How much would these hockey cards be worth?

My friend just inherited a massive collection of hockey cards, all in excellent condition, some autographed by the player, some framed in those glass-like frames for valuable cards, and a pack of about 500 or more that were not opened. Most of them are packed in a cardboard box unprotected (but still in great shape) and the others are in card albums, you know, those binders with the plastic pages for placing cards in. In total, there are over 5000 cards. How much would his collection be worth? Would it depend on who he sells them to?
