How many hockey fans in Canada are traitors?

So many of my fellow Canadians embarrass me. Its bad enough hockey is played beyond Canada and especially in the Untied States.

When you support any team or player not from Canada that's grounds for treasons!

Why don't any of you understand that Hockey is Canada's game and no one else?

Only in Canada will every and anything hockey always sells out and make money. Not in those countries that are inferior to Canada. Destroying hockey destroys Canada and those who commit any traitorous act shall suffer the consequences.|||It's actually the other way around: YOU embarrass Canada with your idiotic comments. You must be from either Toronto or Montreal because I can't think of why or how you can be this dumb.|||(Note the sarcasm)

"Yeah! I hate every other country that plays hockey! I am so furious with the fact that this great game is also loved in other places around the world! Everything we do in Canada should just stay in Canada! We drink water in Canada, so lets just buy every water supply in the world, right?! Lets just be the only country with telephones hur hur! Screw the Canadian identity! Lets just keep it all to ourselves! Canadian Peacekeepers should just keep peace in one country: Canada! Hockey is not an export from Canada it should just remain in Canada! Imagine how much better the olympics would be if there was just one team: CANADA! Do you know how exciting it would be to watch one team play on ice alone? Stupid traitors!! Grrrr."|||I guess I'm a traitor, because I personally am glad the NHL has American teams. But I suppose you prefer a world where the NHL only has ten teams, all in Canada, and is considered a second-rate league because all of the high-profile players bolt to the top league in the States where they can make far more money?

The NHL is the only sports league to originate in Canada that cracks the top of the world rankings. If we didn't have American teams, that wouldn't be the case. The NHL would be to the AHL what the CFL is to the NFL. Maybe you're the traitor for wanting us to lose our only top sports league. Thanks for wanting to destroy Canadian hockey.|||Please be logical. Patriotism is one thing but when you mix it with a lack of logic it tends to offend people. Calm down, be logical. Yes Canada should have more teams, and most Americans agree on that too. (In fact according to a recent ESPN poll every state is in support of the Coyotes moving to Canada except for Arizona and Alabama)|||When Ottawa and Anahiem were in the cup finals a few years ago, who did you cheer for? Ottawa being a Canadian team or Anahiem an American team with the vast majority of the team being made up of Canadians while Ottawa not so much. Is it wrong to support the Chicago Blackhawks because there are Winnipeg boys that play on that team Toews and Barker and Byfuglien a guy who got cut from our junior team in Manitoba. So your also saying that we should have kept basketball to ourselves aswell because it was invented by a Canadian? You don't make any sense.

On a side note:

However, I do like going to the U.S. and saying to Americans do you like ice hockey? The reaction is priceless. Oh yeah I know the Coyotes Gretzky and his wife there Janet they were involved in that gambling thing. I was like yeah wow thats all you know. And they say do you like nascar and i'm like so hows jimmy johnson and dale earnhart doing?|||I gotta agree with Patrick on this one.

I'm Canadian and I have no problem with hockey being played in the States. I have a problem with hockey being played in non-markets. If their was a team in Regina and there was 3000 people going to a game, I would not object to them getting moved.|||it must really pain you that hockey was created by brittish people.

ryan how open minded of you, why should hockey be played in az, i mean what right do we have it doesnt snow here, yet since the coyotes have moved here we have wonderfull youth hockey programs that reguarlly beat out canadian teams in tournaments, we have in the coyotes organization a d man who led our ahl team in points and he's from mesa, az. we had 3 az natives go in this years draft. and not only az but california and texas have excellent youth hockey programs. youd be surprised to see how many professional hockey players are coming from cali.|||Including or excluding the one asking this question.

We embarrass you? You seem quite able to do that on your own, in fact you are a little embarrassing to the rest of us. Fortunately, hockey fans in the US being smart enough to like hockey are smart enough to realize that you don't speak for the rest of us.

By the way it is grounds for treason- not treasons. Now you are making our education system look bad too.

Go take your ball, err puck, and go play in your own yard. we don't want or need your xenophobic insights.|||Babcock, Crosby, Pronger, Neidermayer, Fleury, Gretzky, Lemieux...

what a bunch of traitors.

oh wait.

it's American.... OWNED (the ones that are). and located. after that, most of these teams are more Canadian than any other national "flavor".

besides, even if the NHL only had Canadian - located teams, I'd still be a fan of at least one. it's the best game! are you going to turn away the George Washington's that i'm willing to invest?

btw, i'm not taking this account, or this question seriously. it's a typical "whose dander can i raise?" question. very nice.|||I'm sure the feeling of embarrassment is mutual among your fellow Canadians. And by past questions I'm going to assume you're white; therefore you're an embarrassment to the white race. I'm going to go as far as saying you're human and ultimately embarrassing the human race.|||Uhhhh

Ok?

In that case please give me back your computer, the Toronto Blue Jay's, the entire CFL league, electricity, telephone, light bulbs, rolled toilet paper, elevators, etc..

I will be willing to share all the things America made to the rest of Canada just not you.|||ok im sorry. im proudly canadian but i think its alright that hockey is shared. we play football and baseball and soccer. so why not let the rest of the would enjoy the awesome sport of hockey. and its fine if people support players from other teams. i like boston-im not a huge fan- but i root for them if they play. it just happens that my fave teams are the flames and leafs. so yeah.|||So when the biggest employer of Canadian hockey players, American-based teams( including minor league teams) are all eliminated, what will all those out-of-work Canadian players do? Are there enough jobs driving snow plows and ice road truckers?|||Mate,

You do understand that Canada was, is, and will be a nation of immigrants.

Meanwhile, please set the crack pipe down, and go outside and get some fresh air.

Have a super day.|||Hitler comes to Canada!|||When did Adolf become a Canadian?|||I thought hitler was german..and dead.|||get over it and grow up....|||My team's GM is American, what do I do now?|||First, you need a lesson in the origins of the game of hockey. hockey was first played on the narrow creeks and rivers of the wilderness of British North America. It was adapted from a game called Bandy that was played on the frozen soccer fields of eastern Europe. Those European immigrants were not Canadian, Canada did not exist as a country yet.

In the time since, hockey has become a Canadian passion. Part of the fabric of our very being and a source of both great national pride (when we win gold) and heartache (when we don't win gold).

Hockey may be "Canada's game" as you put it (but don't forget that our national sport is Lacrosse), but we hardly have exclusive rights to it. I suggest you visit European nations like Finland where they are almost as fanatical about hockey as we Canadians are. Before you bash hockey in the USA go to a minor league or high school game in a hockey hotbed like Minnesota (yes I know there are others, I just picked that one as an example).

What embarrasses me is to see one of my fellow Canadians (yes I mean you) combining the type of arrogance you have shown here with complete ignorance of the origins of the game and it's growth not only in Canada, but throughout the world.

Then again I bet you're a Maple Leafs fan and think that Toronto is the center of the hockey universe. I've got news for you, Montr茅al is the center of the hockey universe. And no I am not a Habs fan, I just recognise it for what it is.
